We Have an Historic Building!!

The Rex Allen Theater building was built in the late 1800s. It was originally a hotel, but has been a theater since 1927. It was originally called the Mystic, and had a single screen and balcony.

It was converted into a twin screen theater in the early 1990s, and the entrance was moved to the side at that time. The building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. It is considered to be an Art Deco building.

In our smaller theater, the image is produced by a Motiograph AA 35mm projector that is more than 60 years old. It is the oldest 35mm projector in the State of Arizona still in use.

The building and grounds are owned by the Rex Allen Museum, which is next door, and of which we are part. Since Rex Allen was a movie star, we at the museum think there is no better way to remember him than to make sure that a movie theater remains open in his home town. Visit the main Rex Allen Museum website at:

The Rex Allen Museum is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations to it are tax deductable. If you want to help keep our theater open, you can make your tax deductable donation to the Museum, and simply indicate that it is to go to theater operations or improvements.
